Types of Cladding We Install

Fibre Cement Cladding

Fibre cement is tough, weatherproof and lasts for decades. We install systems from two well-respected manufacturers:

James Hardie Cladding (Hardi Plank) James Hardie makes some of the best fibre cement cladding available. It comes in loads of colours and finishes, stands up to extreme weather without cracking or warping, and keeps looking good with hardly any maintenance needed.

Marley Eternit Weatherboard Marley Eternit is designed specifically for UK weather. It’s fire resistant, tough against impacts, and the colour doesn’t fade. It works on both modern builds and traditional properties, giving you clean, sharp lines.

Composite Cladding

Composite cladding looks like real timber but performs much better. It won’t rot, warp or get eaten by insects, and you don’t need to spend your weekends treating or painting it. You get the natural wood look without all the hassle, plus better insulation.

UPVC Cladding

We fit UPVC shiplap cladding from Swish. It’s the budget-friendly option that still does a proper job protecting your walls. UPVC won’t fade, never needs painting, and comes in different colours and styles to match what you’re after.

Benefits of External Wall Cladding

Good cladding does more than just make your property look better. Here’s what you actually get:

  • Lower energy bills: Cladding adds extra insulation to your walls. Your house stays warmer in winter and cooler in summer, so your heating doesn’t have to work as hard.
  • Weather protection: Rain, wind, snow and sun can damage your walls over time. Cladding shields the structure underneath and stops water getting in where it can cause expensive problems.
  • Hardly any maintenance: Modern cladding won’t warp, rot or need painting. It’s designed to look after itself, so you don’t have to spend every summer maintaining it.
  • Fire safety: Many cladding systems have proper fire-resistant certifications for added peace of mind.

Black Cladding

Black gives you that bold, modern look. It’s particularly popular on new builds and extensions.

Grey Cladding

Grey is versatile and sophisticated. Works with pretty much any style, whether your property is traditional or modern.

Soft Green Cladding

Soft green stands out without being over the top. It looks great if your property backs onto countryside or woodland.

Where is cladding used?

We install cladding on all sorts of projects:

  • Whole house cladding completely changes how your property looks from the outside. It improves insulation, protects the brickwork underneath, and can knock years off the appearance of an older property.
  • Extensions and conversions often need cladding to match the rest of your house, or sometimes to create a contrast between old and new that actually looks intentional.
  • Garages and outbuildings benefit from cladding too. It protects them from the weather and makes them look less like an afterthought.
  • Commercial buildings use cladding for both looks and practicality. We’ve worked on offices, retail units and industrial buildings where cladding needs to be tougher and meet different standards.

Maintenance & Repairs

To protect your investment, we also offer scheduled maintenance and repair services for all wall cladding installations. Our team can inspect, clean, and fix your cladding as needed to ensure your building exterior remains in top condition over its lifetime.

Why install Cladding?

Adds Value To Your Property

Good cladding makes your property look well-maintained and modern. That matters when you come to sell or let it out. First impressions count.

Fire Safety

Many cladding systems have proper fire-resistant certifications, which is obviously important for your building’s safety.

Lower Energy Bills

Cladding adds an extra layer of insulation to your walls. Your house stays warmer in winter and cooler in summer, which means your heating and cooling don’t have to work as hard.

Protection From The Weather

Rain, wind, snow, sun – your walls take a battering over the years. Cladding shields the structure underneath, stopping water getting in and causing damp or damage that costs serious money to fix.

Hardly Any Maintenance

Unlike old-fashioned materials that need painting or treating every few years, modern cladding pretty much looks after itself. The colour doesn’t fade and it won’t warp or rot. Just give it a wash down now and then.

Why Choose M3 Property Maintenance

  • We know what we’re doing: We’ve been doing this for almost ten years now, and our team’s got over 25 years of combined experience. We’ve seen pretty much every type of cladding job going.

  • We use proper materials: We only work with respected brands like James Hardie, Marley Eternit and Swish. No cheap rubbish that’ll look tatty in five years.

  • No deposit needed: You don’t pay us anything until we’ve done the work. That’s how confident we are that you’ll be happy with what we do.

  • 10-year guarantee on our work: Our installation is guaranteed for ten years. We’re properly insured and accredited, so you’re covered.

  • We handle everything: From the first phone call to the final inspection, you deal with us. We don’t use subcontractors – it’s our team doing your work.

  • Fair pricing: We’re competitive on price, but we won’t cut corners to be the cheapest. You get what you pay for with cladding, and we’re upfront about what things cost.

How m3 Property Maintenance install Cladding

We don’t just turn up and start nailing boards to your wall. There’s proper prep work involved to make sure the job lasts.

How long it takes depends on the size of the job. A garage or single-storey extension might take a few days. A whole house takes longer. We’ll tell you exactly how long when we come and look at your property.

Step 1

Site Assessment and Inspection

First, we check your walls to see what condition they’re in and what needs doing before we can start installing cladding.

Step 2

Preparation and Groundwork

This is the important bit. We check if your insulation needs replacing or upgrading. We look at the battens (the wooden framework the cladding fixes to) and replace any that are dodgy. Sometimes we need to fit an insulation membrane to stop moisture getting through.

Step 3

Fitting the cladding

Our installers fit everything properly, following the manufacturer’s instructions. We make sure there’s proper ventilation behind the cladding, everything’s weathertight, and it’s all structurally sound. We use the right fixings for whatever material we’re installing.

Step 4

Finishing it off

All the corners, edges and joints get proper attention so water can’t get in and everything looks neat. We fit the trims and finishing pieces that complete the job properly.

Which Cladding material should you choose?

If you want something that’ll last for decades with barely any looking after, go for fibre cement from James Hardie or Marley Eternit. The colour stays true and it just keeps going.

Want the look of timber without spending every summer treating it? Composite cladding gives you that natural appearance but actually performs like modern materials should.

Working to a tighter budget? UPVC shiplap does a solid job protecting your walls and it’s straightforward to maintain. It costs less but it’s still proper quality.

Give us a call and we’ll talk through what makes sense for your property and what you’re looking to spend.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fibre cement and composite usually last 30-50 years without much maintenance. UPVC gives you a good 20-30 years. Obviously it depends on which material you pick, whether it’s fitted properly, and what the weather throws at it.

Usually not. Most cladding jobs count as permitted development, which means you can just get on with it. But if your property’s listed, in a conservation area, or certain other types, you might need approval. We can tell you what applies to your situation.

Yes, nearly always. We check your walls are in decent nick, fit battens and proper insulation, then install the cladding. This actually improves your insulation while protecting what’s already there.

We look at your wall insulation and might need to replace it. We check the battens are solid and swap out any dodgy ones. Sometimes we fit an insulation membrane to stop damp. Basically, we make sure everything’s right before the cladding goes on.

Not much. Wash it down with water now and then to get rid of dirt. Check it once a year for any damage or bits coming loose. Fibre cement and composite might benefit from a proper clean every few years to keep them looking their best.

Yes, we can match existing cladding or work with other materials on your property. James Hardie, Marley and Swish all do loads of colours, so we can usually get pretty close to whatever you need.
